Abstract
This study aims to analyze the perceptions of empowerment among faculties and staff at the Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City, while also examining differences in these perceptions based on demographic characteristics. The data were collected through a questionnaire survey with 468 respondents, selected using the non-probability sampling, specifically the purposive sampling. Through the data analysis, the study identified five key factors in the empowerment perception: (1) perceived self-competence, (2) opportunities for career development, (3) influence within the organization, (4) autonomy, and (5) participation in decision-making. Among these factors, the perceived self-competence received the highest rating, indicating that employees feel confident in their abilities. Conversely, the participation in decision-making scored the lowest, suggesting the limited involvement of faculties and staff in organizational decisions. Based on these findings, the study emphasizes the need to revise empowerment mechanisms, particularly by enhancing autonomy and participatory decision-making, which would not only boost work motivation but also strengthen organizational commitment among faculties and staff. The study offers practical insights for managers in developing human resource policies and improving the workplace environment in a more sustainable and effective manner.
