Abstract
This study aims to understand the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on various labor groups in Ho Chi Minh City through a sociological lens. This study focuses on analyzing disparities between labor groups in following up and resolving operational issues of the pandemic. The study used quantitative and qualitative research methods, including secondary analysis with 350 sample units and in-depth interviews for 16 participants. The results show that government practices have significant effects on individuals' response mechanisms. The study also highlights the role of studying the importance of social capital and social networks in overcoming difficulties caused by the pandemic. The study also highlights socio-economic research activities in deeply vulnerable labor groups, especially the strengthening of social inequality. Differential support factors in access to health services, loss of employment and income, and access to information and support have contributed to this inequality. This highlights the importance of policy support, especially for groups of workers with small social networks. By providing insights into the uneven impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on various labor groups in Ho Chi Minh City, the article aims to suggest policy solutions that can be adopted, more appropriate and effective in reducing inequality and bringing about socio-economic benefits. Based on the research results, several recommendations are proposed, including designing policies tailored to each demographic group, creating more accessible and inclusive policy frameworks, and harnessing social capital and social support networks to strengthen worker resilience and ensure access to tools for both formal and informal workers with government support.
